On the 15th of August, a passionate team of 11 from CPS and Fenner proudly joined\u00a0Trillion Trees Australia<\/em>\u00a0to plant 2,880 native seedlings at Mandoon Moitch (Guildford Meadows). This collaborative effort brought together 32 participants, including key clients and volunteers from across Perth, all doing their part to support the ongoing Mandoon Moitch Restoration Project.

Our involvement with Trillion Trees Australia reflects our ongoing commitment to \u201cA Better Way Forward\u201d by supporting a wide range of sustainability initiatives and environmentally responsible practices. With over 300,000 trees planted across various locations, Trillion Trees not only restores degraded landscapes but also addresses broader social challenges. Their community nursery fosters inclusivity, combats social isolation, and supports mental health through meaningful engagement and connection to nature.

Mandoon Moitch, located on the banks of the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River), is a remnant of wetland cleared in the 1930s that holds immense ecological and cultural significance. The area supports more than 23 native species, including at-risk birds, frogs, and pollinators. It also plays a vital role in enhancing Perth\u2019s urban canopy by helping to cool the area during hot summer months, improving local air quality, and creating a more liveable environment for both wildlife and people.

Now part of Whiteman Park, the wetland receives its water from the Gnangara Water Mound and is home to several culturally significant sites for the local Nyoongar people. Since 2016, more than 100,000 trees have been planted in the area as part of Trillion Trees Australia\u2019s long-term ecological restoration efforts, helping to return biodiversity and resilience to this important landscape.

We were also joined on the day by Simon Cherriman from the\u00a0Re-cyc-ology Project,<\/a> an initiative that uses recycled materials to build and install nest boxes supporting native wildlife across the Perth region. Simon ascended to the treetops to install a large, top-entry nest box in one of the area\u2019s ancient Eucalyptus rudis trees. This nest box will provide a safe and secure breeding site for endangered black cockatoos while the young trees we planted have time to grow and establish themselves.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
