Question: Tell us about your journey within CPS
Answer: While working as a Reliability Engineer in Port Hedland, I had the chance to connect with the CPS team and get to know their products through several challenging mining conveyor projects earlier this year, I joined CPS as a Manufacturing Process Engi-neer, which gave me the opportunity to return to the area of engineering where I first built my foundations.
Question: What does a typical day or week look like for you?
Answer: Since joining CPS, I’ve been actively involved in the BS1 project, focusing on improving processes and part quality. My role includes validating high tolerance carry and return frames through jig and CMM measurements. As the project is fast-paced and dynamic, I’m often moving between the office and the workshop—which has been a great way to quickly get hands-on with CPS processes.
Most days are spent in a high-energy production environment, where music blends with the sound of machines. My focus is on ensuring high-quality output, maintaining a consistent and sustainable process flow, and identifying issues early at source. I really enjoy working on process improvements, solving technical challenges, supporting operators, and collaborating closely with the team to reduce waste—while ensuring we respond to both internal and external customers in a timely way.
Question: Are there CPS strengths or behaviors that you feel really help you excel?
Answer: At CPS, people are very helpful and friendly, which gives me confidence and makes me enjoy my job even more. I believe my strongest qualities are being proactive and maintaining strong communication with the people I work with. I value working towards a shared goal, and I genuinely care about treating people well—because while technical issues can always be solved, people will always remember how you treat them.
Question: Can you share a particular project you enjoyed working on, and how did it deliver value to the client?
Answer: I really enjoy working on components for the BS1 project, where I handled high tolerance carry and return frames. I improved the impact, machining parameters, part tolerances, and tested temperature, assembly press tolerances, time, internal stresses in the roller to produce the YRHD into 0.1mm TIR spec for the project roller design completed several and achieved a successful result that was approved by an external inspector within my first month. I also worked on improving welding jigs and resolving issues to ensure accurate and sustainable production. This helped deliver consistent quality and meet strict client requirements.
Question: Would you like to share anything about life outside CPS? What do you enjoy doing?
Answer: I enjoy traveling, exploring new cultures, trying different cuisines, and joining activities just to socialise. Sometimes I enjoy attending yoga and Pilates classes.
