CPS delivers 250% increase in roller life on stockpile conveyor!
Posted at Junio 20, 2023One of the biggest copper producers in Peru contacted CPS to work on improving their current idlers on a 72-inch stacker conveyor.
The client’s reliability team detected local areas where rollers failed four to six times yearly. The return rollers were also failing prematurely and required a lot of additional maintenance hours to replace due to their highly elevated location on the conveyor.
CPS recommended installing three types of rollers:
- For high-tension/high carryback return rollers, CPS proposed the installation of our premium Polyurethane Disc with Hollow Shaft rollers.
- For the high-elevation return rollers, CPS recommended the installation of our Yeloroll-HD composite rollers to reduce roller weight and increase reliability.
- At the same time, CPS proposed installing Yeloroll-HD rollers for the carry rollers, obtaining the same benefits as the return rollers and reducing roller weight from 30kg (steel roller) to 17kg.
With the installation of Yeloroll-HD light weight composite tube, roller weight has been reduced from 45kgs (steel rollers) to just 20kgs. This 20-kg weight savings has been a great safety benefit for the crew, as this has significantly reduced manual handling risks and even made roller changeouts faster due to the rollers’ lighter weight.
After six months of operation, the site’s CPS rollers installed have exceeded the number of rollers from the previous supplier by 250%. CPS is always looking to deliver the lowest TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) in the market!
