Question: Tell us about your journey within CPS.
Answer: I joined CPS in 2019 as an Assistant Operator on the production floor at the same time the BHP South Flank project was emerging. I was one of the pioneers who operated some of the automated robotic machines which were commissioned at the same time.
In 2021, I moved into the QA department as a Quality Inspector which gave me more in-depth knowledge of how our conveyor roller products were manufactured.
2 years later, when Fenner Conveyors acquired CPS, a lot of opportunities arose which allowed me to advance into a more customer service role. Since then, I’ve been a part of the sales team further developing and leveraging my understanding of how our high-quality precision engineered products are effective on site.
Question: What does a typical day or week look like for you?
Answer: While most of our team are supporting customers externally/on-site, a typical day for me involves supporting our customers internally through phone and email, handling enquiries such as RFQs, following up on existing orders, and resolving issues/problems, often leading to the development of new engineered solutions.
In addition, I work closely with our production and engineering teams to manage queries so that the appropriate teams are working to support our clients effectively.
Question: Are there CPS strengths or behaviors that you feel really help you excel?
Answer: I would say working in a team environment. Starting from the production floor and progressing into a customer service role, I’ve experienced firsthand the strong teamwork culture across every department in the business. Everyone I’ve worked with has been willing to collaborate and support one another, which has deeply influenced my approach to problem-solving and customer support. This culture of teamwork has shaped how I operate in my current role, where collaboration and mutual support are essential to achieving success.
Question: Can you share a particular project you enjoyed working on, and how did it deliver value to the client?
Answer: One of the first conveyor projects I was involved in while working in this role was the Truss Replacement for one of the sites in Yandicoogina. I was approached by the client in early 2024 and collaborated closely with the engineering and project teams ensuring we had a smooth process.
The key value delivered to the client was the seamless collaboration between the project, engineering and production teams.
Our engineering team supported the proposal of new components, introducing out PU+ rollers and jackdown frames as replacements for the previously installed plain suspended units. We’ve also ensured that any problems encountered were addressed in a timely manner with an engineered solution.
The project team played a crucial role in early engagement and execution, ensuring production ran smoothly and remained on schedule.
Lastly, our production team worked relentlessly, prioritising safety and ensuring all goods met with quality standards and were delivered on time.
Question: Tell us about life outside CPS. What do you enjoy doing?
Answer: I enjoy music in my spare time. Other than listening to it, I play instruments (guitar and bass), sing and write songs whenever inspiration arises. I volunteer as a musician at church on Sundays and also I’m part of a local band in Perth. Other than that, I love spending time with my friends and family.
