Less than 1 Hour Downtime in 12 Months on Critical Solomon Conveyor

Posted at August 26, 2025

At CPS, we’re proud to partner with leading miners like Fortescue to deliver high-performance conveyor solutions that meet tough operational demands. In 2020, CPS was engaged to supply a complete package of 30,000 rollers, 6,900 frames, and 8 pulleys for a critical 8km overland conveyor at the Solomon Hub (Queens project).

The conveyor was designed with an 1800mm belt width and 5-roll configuration to handle the efficient transport of bulk iron ore.

FMG required delivery within just 12 weeks, with components manufactured to high tolerance standards to ensure long-term reliability. CPS responded with a fully Australian-made solution consisting of 30,000 rollers, 6,900 frames, and 8 pulleys, all manufactured from its Perth facility. Robotic welding enabled high tolerance frame fabrication, while local production ensured accelerated timelines, strict quality control, and close collaboration with FMG stakeholders from design through to delivery.

Since installation, the Queens CV113 conveyor has recorded only 0.45 hours of downtime in FY25, setting a benchmark for performance, reliability, and delivery excellence. The project underscores CPS’s ability to provide technically advanced, Australian-made solutions that deliver long-term value for mining operations.

This project demonstrates CPS’s ability to combine engineering strength, local fabrication, and strategic collaboration to deliver long-term value for our clients.
