On 31 July, a group of over 40 people from CPS, Fenner and a variety of other organisations came together to support volunteers from Trillion Trees Australia for a large-scale community planting day at Mandoon Moitch (Guildford Meadows), helping plant over 3,700 native seedlings as part of the ongoing Mandoon Moitch Restoration Project.

Supporting a Better Way Forward

At CPS, sustainability extends beyond our products and services. Through our partnership with Trillion Trees Australia, we are proud to contribute to initiatives that create lasting environmental and community benefits.

For more than four decades, Trillion Trees Australia has been restoring degraded landscapes across Western Australia, with more than 300,000 trees planted through its various programs. Beyond environmental restoration, the organisation also delivers important social outcomes through community engagement, volunteer programs, and its community nursery, which provides opportunities for connection, learning, and wellbeing. Restoring an Important Ecosystem

Situated along the banks of the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River), Mandoon Moitch is a remnant wetland that was largely cleared during the 1930s. Today, it is recognised for its ecological and cultural significance, supporting more than 23 native plant and animal species, including threatened birds, frogs, and important pollinators.

The restoration project plays a critical role in rebuilding biodiversity, improving habitat connectivity, and strengthening Perth’s urban canopy. As the planted vegetation matures, it will help cool surrounding areas, improve air quality, and create healthier environments for both wildlife and the local community.

Now incorporated within Whiteman Park, the wetland is also home to several culturally significant sites for the local Nyoongar people and receives water from the Gnangara Water Mound. Since 2016, more than 100,000 native trees have been planted throughout the area, contributing to the long-term recovery and resilience of this unique landscape.
